UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Students are faced with many decisions regarding career opportunities after leaving Snake River High
School. Several available options to consider include:
4 year colleges or universities
2 year community or junior colleges
Military Service
On- the- job training
Apprenticeships
Business, trade, or technical schools
University Entrance Requirements may Include:
English: 8 Credits Minimum
Mathematics: 6 Credits Minimum
Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2(Minimum)
Natural Science: 6 Credits Minimum
At least 2 of these credits must include lab experiences
Social Science: 6 Credits Minimum
Humanities: 2 Credits Minimum
Foreign Language: Foreign Language may be recommended
General College Entrance Requirements Include:
Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent
Aptitude: Results of college entrance exams and a high school transcript are required at most colleges
and universities. In Idaho and all surrounding states, the ACT and/or SAT test scores and high school
transcript are required.
Application- Admission Procedures Include:
1. Obtaining an application from the college, the internet, or the high school counseling office.
2. Completing the application and returning it to the college or university.
3. Requesting a transcript to be sent from the high school to the college or university.
4. Taking the required admission test(s).
When all information is received, the college or university makes a decision about admission and
notifies the student.
Standardized Testing Program
Results from standardized tests are used to assess student achievement and curriculum evaluation.
High school students also are required to take standardized tests as a part of the admission process
for colleges and university entrance. Students may elect to take additional tests to assist in post high
school planning.
